WHO WE HELP
Counselors & Therapists
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) has been endorsed by the American Psychological Association as a viable option for self-exploration and growth. EAP is a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist/counselor and a horse professional working with the individual client and horse to address treatment goals. This is a powerful and effective therapeutic approach that has a proven impact.
EAP addresses behavioral issues, attention deficit disorder, PTSD, TBI, memory retention, anger issues, substance abuse, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship problems and communication needs. Skill development for the client includes non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking, problem-solving, leadership skills, teamwork, confidence, and attitude management. These sessions do not necessarily involve riding, but are mostly done through ground work with the horses.
Sessions can be tailored to your particular client’s needs. If you are a licensed professional counselor or therapist who is interested in co-facilitating a session (EAP) with Cindy Jones acting as your Equine Specialist, please contact us directly or fill out the Therapist Interest Form on our website and she will respond within 24 hours.
