GET INVOLVED

Mentoring

Mentors who work with the guests and horses are trained to learn how to maximize their time with the guests and use what they’re learning in the program to draw parallels with real life experiences. All volunteers are provided 45 hours of training each year, including but not limited to:

  • Metaphorse: using the horse as a metaphor for life

  • Horsemanship 101: mechanics

  • Safety and first aid training

The culture of Two Hearts Horsemanship is centered on faith and family. Through working with the horses and other caring adults, we take you back to a simpler time when relationships were the center of life and fellowship connected people to make a difference.

IS MENTORING RIGHT FOR YOU?

Even if you understand the benefits of mentoring and it sounds like a great idea, you have to decide whether it's right for you. To explore your reasons for mentoring and help you decide if you want to take this type of commitment, ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you want to share your knowledge and experience with others?

  • Do you enjoy encouraging and motivating others? Are you comfortable asking challenging questions?

  • Do you want to contribute to other people's growth and success?

  • Are you prepared to invest your time in mentoring on a regular basis?

  • How will mentoring contribute toward your own career goals?

  • How will mentoring add to your sense of contribution and community?

  • What type of person do you ideally want to mentor?

  • In what areas are you willing to help?

  • Are there any areas that you don't want to go near?
